The term scam is sometimes used correctly when referring to network marketing. The term scam is similar to the term vulnerability to confidence tricks. According to Wikipedia, the term vulnerability to confidence tricks means, “Persons of any level of intelligence is vulnerable to deception by experienced con artists. Confidence tricks exploit human weaknesses like greed, dishonesty, vanity, but also virtues like honesty, compassion, or a naïve expectation of good faith on the part of the con artist.”
Have you seen advertisements that claim they made a million dollars in one day without selling, calling, or work? These con artists are feeding off of peoples weaknesses like greed and vanity. To reinforce this, these con artists show pictures of money, big houses, fancy cars, and big boats. Once the hook is set they will tell you that they will do all of the work, you just have to follow this fool proof plan. The only catch is that you must send them your credit card number. After a few weeks you start questioning why you are not a millionaire like the advertisement stated. As a matter of fact, you haven’t made any money at all.
Most network marketers are honest people and honest people won’t cheat other out of their money. However a few con artists can ruin it for everyone and they have.
Network marketing is a legitimate business model. Legitimate network marketing companies offer products and services that offer real value, not just a business model.
Network marketing is a different way a distributing goods and services to the consumer.
If you are looking at network marketing and wondering if you are being scammed, the first thing to check out is their products and/or services. Do you believe in the products and/or services? You noticed above that the con artists never mentioned what products and services they were offering. They only told you how much money you can make.
Governments, companies, internet service providers, websites, and many network marketing oversight organizations are working to stop these con artists before anyone gets taken. However, these con artists still can still take your money if you are not careful.
Educate yourself, ask lots of questions, and most importantly don’t follow your emotions when looking into getting into a network marketing business. Remember it’s your time and your money, so don’t just jump into this industry without knowledge and help on your side.
